Although the world is full of suffering, it is full also of the overcoming of it. ~  Helen Keller

Go Hunter Go!

On January 22, 2008, I will be ten years old and this will be my best year ever!

I have met amazing people during the past 10 years.  I would like to thank you if you prayed for me, raised money for me, or played with me.  I would like to applaud the professionals that have taught me, worked with me, and healed me.

Everyone of you have been instrumental in where I am today.  With out every life experience I would not be this far.  I have a great foundation with a loving family and my support system is my friends, therapist, doctors and teachers.

I have been in the Killeen, Texas newspaper and on Fox News Houston.  Check out my Media Coverage.

I have been hitting the local craft fair circuit.  I have raised money that will be used to send me back to do Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in North Carolina.  I paint note cards and my mom makes Disciple's Crosses.  At every craft fair I out sell my mom.  If you would like to buy my note cards or a disciple's cross check out card orders or crosses to the left.  100% of the money goes directly into a saving accounts for me to do therapies that insurance doesn't cover.

About my birth:

I was born earlier than expected.  My mom was very sick and we were both about to die at the very same moment.  We were willing to sacrifice our life to save the other.  The end result was we both survived.  Both of us had many complications after I was born.  Because this is my web site, I am going to tell you about ME!  In case if you are wondering ... my mom is now fine because she is a survivor just like me.

I was born 15 weeks early.  Of course I had a difficult time breathing and after seven weeks I over came that problem.  My eyes were exposed to light very early and I still have vision issues but they are getting better.  When I was eight weeks old the doctors told my parents that they had discovered that I had a brain injury called periventricular lackomalacia (PVL).  Before I was born I had a loss of oxygen and suffered  a stroke.  The injury is in my ventricles in the white matter in my brain which causes me to have problems moving my body.  Doctors diagnosed me with cerebral palsy.  My parents don't like that term as there is no cure for cerebral palsy.  They prefer to say I have a brain injury because you can recover from a brain injury.  I prefer that too because I have a drive to be just like everyone else because my gray matter in my brain is fine.  (That means I can think and learn.)

I was tiny for a long time, for three years to be exact.  That is when a discovery was made that my pituitary gland was damaged and growth hormone therapy was introduced.  I began to grow both in size and development.

So that is what is wrong.  Now you can follow my progress to see what is turning out to be right!

Follow me and my family's journey to recovery!

My milestones

My milestones are not typical.  The first five years I recovered.  You will see most of my development in the most recent years.

My favorite therapies and activities

I definitely have fun!  I have a lot of energy and my skills are getting better.
